Sports Update: Wednesday, January 24th

In Tuesday’s high school basketball, Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers secured a 60-34 victory over Clay Co., and in the boys’ category, Pulaski Co. defeated Clay Co. with a score of 78-58. Wayne Co. won against Somerset Christian School with a score of 93-70.

In college basketball, there was an upset as the No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats were defeated by South Carolina with a score of 79-62. Rob Dillingham led UK with 16 points, while Antonio Reeves contributed 15, and Tre Mitchell had 13. Looking ahead, the Wildcats will face the Arkansas Razorbacks (10-8/1-4 SEC) in Fayetteville, Ark., this Saturday. The tipoff is at 6 pm, and the game will be broadcasted live on ESPN.

On Wednesday, MLB enthusiasts could tune in to the Cincinnati Reds Hot Stove League Show hosted by broadcasters Tommy Thrall and Jim Day, live from 6-7 pm on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM.

Thursday’s college basketball featured a matchup between the Florida International Panthers (7-12/2-2 CUSA) and the WKU Hilltoppers (13-6/2-3 CUSA). WKU, on a two-game losing streak, aimed to bounce back. The game was broadcasted live on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM.

On Sunday, the NFL Conference Championships featured the AFC matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs (11-6) and the Baltimore Ravens (13-4) at 3 pm on CBS. The NFC clash was between the Detroit Lions (12-5) and the San Francisco 49ers (12-5) at 6:30 pm on FOX.
