Meanwhile, in the Boys 48th District tournament at Southwestern High School, the Wayne Co. Cardinals defeated Somerset Christian School with a score of 75-37, ending the Cougars’ season at 8-21. Additionally, the Southwestern Warriors secured a 68-56 victory over the McCreary Central Raiders. The championship game between Southwestern Warriors (14-15) and Wayne Co. Cardinals (23-7) is scheduled for Friday night at 7p at Southwestern High School.
In college basketball news, Reed Sheppard’s game-winning shot led the Kentucky Wildcats to a thrilling 91-89 victory over Mississippi State. Sheppard scored 32 points, including 23 in the second half, with an impressive all-around performance. The Wildcats (20-8/10-5 SEC) will host the Arkansas Razorbacks (14-14/5-10 SEC) at Rupp Arena this Saturday, with tipoff set for 1:30p and live coverage on CBS.
