In Tuesday’s high school basketball action, the Somerset Briar Jumpers secured a 64-51 victory against West Jessamine, while Somerset Christian School had a close match, winning 72-70 against Garrard Co. The Pulaski County Maroons dominated McCreary Central with a score of 59-41. On the girls’ side, the Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers faced a tough challenge, falling to Mercer Co. with a score of 51-27.

In college football news, former Somerset quarterback Kaiya Sheron, now a backup at UK, has entered the transfer portal. Sheron, who played a crucial role in leading the Somerset Briar Jumpers to the Class 2A state football championship in 2019, is exploring new opportunities after completing 2 of 4 passes for five yards in five games as a sophomore.

MLB Wednesday brought fans the Cincinnati Reds Hot Stove League show featuring Reds play-by-play announcer Tommy Thrall, former Reds pitcher and broadcaster Sam LeCure, and current Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott. The show aired live from 6-7 p.m. on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM.
