In Monday’s high school baseball action, Southwestern clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Rockcastle County, demonstrating their prowess on the diamond.

Turning to MLB, the Cincinnati Reds (16-18/3rd NL Central) are set to face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks (15-20/3rd NL West) at Great American Ball Park in the opener of a three-game series. RHP Frankie Montas (2-2/4.19 ERA) returns from the injured list to start for Cincinnati. In college basketball news, Adou Thiero, who entered the transfer portal before Coach John Calipari resigned at Kentucky, is set to reunite with his former coach at Arkansas. The 6’8 Thiero, who averaged 7.2 points and 5 rebounds per game last season at UK, becomes the fifth former Wildcat to join Coach Cal at Arkansas, joining Zvonimir Ivisic and freshmen recruits Karter Knox, Boogie Fland, and Billy Richmond.

In women’s college basketball, Dazia Lawrence, a standout who played four seasons at Charlotte, is transferring to the University of Kentucky. Lawrence, a 5’8 guard, showcased her skills, totaling 1,170 points, 287 rebounds, 162 assists, and 133 steals in her career for the 49ers. Last season, she averaged an impressive 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game as a senior. With one year of eligibility remaining, Lawrence brings valuable experience and talent to the Wildcats’ roster.
