Kaylie Tudor named SCC Health Sciences division Student of the Month for April

Somerset, KY–  A standout student in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Somerset Community College (SCC), Kaylie Tudor from Nancy, has earned the distinction of Student of the Month for April. This recognition places her in contention for the Health Sciences Division’s Student of the Year Award, which will be announced in May 2025.

As integral members of the healthcare team, respiratory therapists play a crucial role in treating patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. They find employment across various settings, including hospitals and specialized cardiopulmonary medicine facilities. The demand for qualified respiratory therapists continues to rise both regionally and nationally, making it a promising career path.

Tudor, a recent graduate of Southwestern High School, speaks highly of SCC and its dedicated faculty. “I would highly recommend Somerset Community College. I am entering a high-demand profession after only two years,” she says. “I am grateful for my professors, who have truly prepared me for my career.”

“Kaylie has showcased outstanding dedication to her education and future career through her academic excellence, unwavering hard work, and genuine passion for respiratory therapy,” says Angie Mills, Program Director. “Her commitment to learning and patient care sets her apart as a role model for her peers.”

Tudor has benefited from the Virginia Murrell Scholarship and the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to Kentuckians pursuing industry-recognized certifications, diplomas, or associate degrees in fields that are in high demand. She is set to graduate with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy this May, with aspirations of working in an intensive care unit post-graduation. Additionally, she plans to further her education by pursuing a higher degree in health sciences.
