Rapid Needs Assessment: If you have immediate needs that are not life-threatening, please complete the Rapid Needs Assessment Form or call 502-607-6665. These needs include: power is out or inconsistent; individuals with medical needs or disabilities; no food or unable to cook; no or very little drinking water; unable to leave house due to weather and lack of transportation; phone issues; unable to leave vehicle; checking on a loved one; and more.  

Accepting/Distributing Donations

Anyone with supplies to donate for clean-up efforts should drop them off between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday-Friday (May 19-23) at:  Somerset Pulaski County Special Response / KY Haz-Mat 12 Headquarters,  123 Stigall Lane, Somerset.  Located behind Mellow Mushroom.  If no one is available upon your arrival, please call Chief Steve Woods at 606-875-1116

United Way of South Central Kentucky is accepting financial donations and non perishable items for long-term disaster relief. All donations will stay in Pulaski County, with no administrative fees, and will go directly to those affected.  We will be working with Pulaski Co Emergency Management to see what the needs are now and moving forward.

Banking Relief

1. Loan Payment Deferrals – Customers making monthly mortgage payments to United Cumberland Bank on their primary residence may request payment deferrals of up to three months. Commercial customers whose businesses have been impacted may also request payment deferrals for up to three months. Personal loans may be eligible to skip a payment while dealing with recovery efforts.  2. Fee Waivers – Late fees and overdraft fees may be waived for customers directly impacted by the tornado.  3. Personalized Financial Counseling – UCB representatives are available to help customers assess their financial situation and explore available options.  Customers are encouraged to contact their local UCB branch or call 606.376.5031 to discuss their individual needs with a loan officer. Assistance programs will be offered for approximately three months beginning Monday, May 19th and will run through August 31st. All programs will be subject to qualifications and review.

Debris Removal

Compost site on the 914 Bypass – 198 Quarry Drive, which is just northeast of 2260 Hwy 914 is available at this time for storm debris. Citizens can utilize the site at no cost for removal of all debris until further notice. Hours of operation are 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Per FEMA guidelines:  For residents in need of storm removal, please follow these guidelines. All materials will need to be placed on the right of way. This graphic will help with placement. Nothing will be accepted off of private property. Crews will be by in the coming days.

Vouchers

Goodwill Kentucky is providing $50 vouchers at its London and Somerset stores for individuals affected by extreme weather. Each family is eligible for one voucher. To request a voucher, please contact the manager on duty at your respective store. An ID is required to claim the voucher. Vouchers can be redeemed at any Goodwill Kentucky location, and the full amount must be used at one location.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said folks can call (606) 521-3119 for housing assistance. 

In addition to housing assistance, the department has partnered with Laurel County School District to open a warming, first aid and food station at South Laurel High School.

Donations of food, blankets and supplies can be dropped off at the school.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has shared a list of storm relief resources to help those impacted by Friday night’s deadly storms. If you are missing a loved one, KSP says you should go to Faith Assembly of God at 390 Faith Assembly Church Road to speak with a detective from the Kentucky State Police or the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.Those unable to travel can report missing persons to 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), selecting option 4 when prompted.
