The Cincinnati Reds were swept at home in a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers. On Friday, the Reds lost 4-3 with Spencer Steer homering for the team. Saturday’s game ended in a 5-3 loss, with Steer homering again. On Sunday, the Reds fell 5-1, with Noelvi Marte driving in the lone run for Cincinnati. The Reds (42-48, 4th NL Central) will now host the Colorado Rockies (32-58, 5th NL West) in a four-game series at Great American Ball Park, with games scheduled for Monday through Wednesday night at 7:10 PM and Thursday at 1:10 PM. MLB All-Star Game:
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz has been named a reserve for the National League in the July 16th MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. The 22-year-old De La Cruz leads MLB with 41 stolen bases and currently has 15 homers, 32 RBI, 16 doubles, and six triples. This is De La Cruz’s first All-Star Game selection. He will be joined by his manager, David Bell, who will be a coach for the NL under manager Torey Lovullo of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
NASCAR:
Alex Bowman won the NASCAR Cup Series race in Chicago on Sunday. It was Bowman’s eighth career victory and his first since March 2022.
