Weekend Wrap-Up: Monday, October 23rd


In an exciting game broadcast live on Somerset 106.1 FM & Somerset106.com, the Somerset Briar Jumpers claimed a district title with a 36-13 road victory over the Leslie County Eagles. Meanwhile, the Southwestern Warriors secured a 28-16 win against the Pulaski County Maroons.

Looking ahead to this Friday, it’s the regular season finale in high school football. The 3A Glasgow Scotties (7-2) will face off against the Somerset Briar Jumpers (7-2) at 7:30 p.m. This game will be broadcast on Somerset 106.1 FM & Somerset106.com. In another matchup, Henry Clay (0-9) will play against Pulaski County (3-7) with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Southwestern (6-3) has the week off.

In Saturday’s college basketball action, Rob Dillingham was the star, scoring an impressive 40 points and contributing 5 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Blue Team to a 100-89 victory over the White Team in the UK Basketball annual Blue/White scrimmage held at Northern Kentucky University. Adou Thiero added 26 points. On the White Team, Justin Edwards led with 26 points, DJ Wagner scored 25, and Antonio Reeves had 17 points.

Next up, Kentucky will host Georgetown College in an exhibition game this Friday at 7 p.m. at Rupp Arena, with live coverage available on SEC Network Plus.

In Sunday’s MLB game, the Texas Rangers secured a 9-2 victory over the Houston Astros in the ALCS, tying the series 3-3.

On Monday, Game 7 of the ALCS will see the Texas Rangers facing the Houston Astros at 8:03 p.m. on FS1. In the NLCS, it’s Game 6, with the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the Philadelphia Phillies at 5:07 p.m. on TBS. The Phillies currently lead the series 3-2.

In Monday night NFL action, it’s the San Francisco 49ers at the Minnesota Vikings at 8:15 p.m., broadcast on ABC/ESPN.

Turning to Tuesday’s college football, the Liberty University Flames (7-0/5-0 CUSA) will face the WKU Hilltoppers (4-3/2-1 CUSA). The Hilltoppers enter the game following a last-second 20-17 road loss at Jacksonville State last week, while the Flames come in after a 42-35 home win over Middle Tennessee. Liberty leads the overall series against WKU 3-0, including a 30-24 victory over the Toppers in Bowling Green in 2020. This game can be followed with live coverage at 6:30 p.m. and a kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM and on ESPNU.

Saturday’s college football matchup features the No. 21 Tennessee Volunteers (5-2/2-2 SEC) taking on the Kentucky Wildcats (5-2/2-2 SEC). Kentucky enters the game coming off a bye week but has lost their previous two games, with a 51-13 loss at Georgia and a home loss to Missouri (38-21). Tennessee’s last game was a loss to Alabama (34-20). The Vols lead the overall series 83-26-9. Kentucky’s last win over Tennessee was a 20-7 victory in Knoxville in 2020. The Vols defeated the Cats last season 44-6 in Knoxville, making this an exciting matchup to watch, with a kickoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
